Nature and Number – June 2

Number of Executives

Mr. Rutlidge and Mr. C. Pinkney moved that the blank for the number of persons in the Executive be one.

Mr. Randolph was very much opposed to one Executive. In his opinion there needed to be multiple Executives. His preference was three, one would represent each region of the country.

Mr. Butler thought that multiple Executives would be a problem particularly in a condition of war.

The motion was postponed.
